STATE
APPROVAL: Most State Boards do NOT pre-approve or require pre-approval of
courses, some of those states include: AL, AR, GA, IA, IL, KS, LA, MN, MS,
NC, NE, NM, NV, OH, OK, OR, SC, WA and WV. Their general requirement
is that the surveyor enlist a course that is relevant, educational and furthers
the surveyor's knowledge of the profession, a test or method of checking the information
learned, and an official certificate signed by a directing authority. Our courses
all qualify as such and are pre-approved in many states,
including KY, MO and TN.
Professional
Land Surveyor Steve Tufte has written the courses/tests, Steve has surveyed in
many parts of the country for over 20 years and is licensed in several states.

RESTORATION OF LOST AND OBLITERATED CORNERS - Chapter Five of the BLM manual. These rules and procedures have been adopted as statutes in most states for the restoration of lost and obliterated corners of the Public Land Survey.

RESURVEYS OF THE PLS - Procedures for resurveys of public lands, from the Manual of Instructions for the Survey of Public Lands, Bureau of Land Management. Because private lands and surveys adjoin public lands, those surveyors that work within the rectangular system of the PLS will find this course beneficial.

GEODETIC AND CONTROL SURVEYING - from First Order to Fourth Order, Federal guidelines and standards of traverse and control surveying, including topographic, construction and boundary survey procedures.

GPS GUIDELINES AND STANDARDS - techniques and standards of GPS surveying according to the Bureau of Land Management and the US Army Corps of Engineers, since there's a general lack of state or local guidelines relating to Global Positioning System Surveying. THE SYSTEM OF RECTANGULAR SURVEYS, PART 1 - The Public Land Survey, completed mostly in the 1800's, was performed under the method called the System of Rectangular Surveys. The extension of this system is still in progress, as are the procedures for establishing or perpetuating parts of the Rectangular System. Initial Points, Principal Meridians, Standard Parallels, Guide Meridians, Township Exteriors, Subdivision of Townships and Sections, and Closing corners are all discussed here.

MONUMENTATION - The Requirements, Rules and Standards according to the BLM for monumenting corners within the Public Land Survey System, i.e. the Rectangular System of the United States. Reference monuments, witness corners and accessories are explained with interpretation of aged and modern markings on corner monuments.
